3 Million Reasons

USA Today has reported that 3.4 million viewers tuned in for the season’s premiere.

…its biggest total since May 2007, and more than double September’s opener…

What a start! This bodes well for the rest of the season, if this continues we could be seeing it go to Season 10!?!

The New York Times posted what seems be a rather scathing attack, but as you read closer, they just seem to highlight all the things we love about Entourage. The critics seem to just blast whatever is popular to get attention — it has always been their way, and David Itzkoff from The New York Times surely got ours. With the title of the article

‘Entourage,’ So Yesterday

being eluding to the fact that he would heavily critique the show, but instead the content doesn’t really live up to the title. With quotes like this

Much about “Entourage” has stayed exactly the same…

it really cements it as attention-seeking false positive opinions, again highlighting the elements that attract us to become fans. And so what I initially thought was a serious critic, turns out to be a bit of light humor, with David Itzkoff rounding out the article exemplifying 5 “insider” jokes that appear in the episode and ending with a joke about Jeremy Piven actually turning up to work, unlike when he skipped his “Speed-to-plow” show at the Piven Theater due to mercury-poisoning. Haha… Not.
Behind the words I’m sure David really enjoyed Episode 1.

On a side note: We’re hearing whispers that Turtles is getting a Ferrari California! That must be in Episode 3 “One Car, Two Car, Red Car, Blue Car”. What the f*ck has Turtle been up to to score such a ride?! Although there are scenes shot at The California Speedway, so maybe Turtle only gets to ride one there. We’ll have to wait and see!
Mos def lookin’ forward to Episode 2 – “Amongst Friends” now!

Episode 1 ‘Drive’ Review

The premiere finally. Words cannot express how awesome it is to see the boys back on tv. As it has been well reported, Lloyd seeks a promotion from Ari, Vincent learns to drive to get his driver’s license for his role in Enzo: The Movie, and E is interrupted by his ex Sloan.

The ‘Drive’ was a great reintroduction to all our favorite Entourage themes and relationships, Vincent still scoring beautiful women, Drama and his usual antagonism, Ari Gold putting down Lloyd etc. It also had new confrontations that will be intriguing to see over the course of the season with Lloyd “strong-arming” Ari, and as a result Ari giving him 100 days to prove his worth as an agent (is that right?) and E’s on-going love saga with Sloan.

You either owe me an apology or a blow job, your choice!
— Ari Gold, to Babbs

In the final scenes we see Vinnie on the couch by himself in his mansion, a rather bittersweet moment. And so Vincent being lonely will definitely be something to watch develop and surely struggle with, as E moves out, Drama working at his night-shoots, and Turtle hanging out with Jamie-Lynn — it is also quite a pertinent time to showcase such a theme.

Also featured was another great soundtrack, true to the Entourage formula that we know and love, check the music out:

  • “Tainted” — Slum Village Feat. Dwelle
    [Opening scene]
  • “Gimmie That Nutt” — Eazy-E
[While 'E' shoots from the couch]
  • “Close To Me” — The Cure
    [Vinnie trying to reverse-park]
  • “You’ll Find A Way (Switch & Sinden Remix)” — Santogold
[Lloyd waiting for Ari outside his house]
  • “Lucky Man” — The Verve
    [Closing Sequence]

Overall, was an excellent episode to bring us back to where we left off. We’re definitely f*ckin’ looking forward to next weeks Episode 2 ‘Amongst Friends’. What did you all think? I challenge you all to describe this episode in two words: I would say “F*ckin’ Awesome”. On a rather sad note, this episode was dedicated to Kevin Connolly’s late mother, Eileen Connolly, who died on 1st March, 2009. Condolences from us to you Kevin.

Another Episode One Preview

Newsday received two more exclusive videos of the Season Six premiere, they can now be found right here. The first video is Vince talking about getting his drivers license so he can play the famed automaker Enzo Ferrari in a movie. How totally awesome does that sound? Enzo: The Movie!

The second video involving Turtle’s mini-obsession over Seth Rogan, hilarious stuff… a lot of banter going back and forth just like the good ol’ days.

A rather glowing review of the opening episodes has come in thanks to The Kansas City Star:

Vince and the boys are welcome in my living room again.

Aaron Barnhart really seemed to enjoy the Episode 1 “Drive”, and his review really gets the back of my neck tingling! Out of the previous rather depressing reviews, it was with hesitation that I kept looking for more, possibly afraid that it would be a bomb?! But ofcourse it wasn’t long till the critics were singing praises. Obviously the others were just doing it to get a little limelight of their own. It is f*ckin’ awesome to hear when a critic reviews the episode positively and cements Entourage as the best with quotes like this:

…this season moves smoothly into overdrive.

In rather odd news, an Australian Free-to-air channel — SBS, has bought the rights to show Entourage to the masses. What’s odd about it is that they are showing Season 1, about 5 years late, and most Aussies would’ve already watched in on their cable channels or DVD. Bizarre. The only reason would have to be because it’s obviously a money-maker.

The Season 6 Finale credit song was
Jay-Z's
"In My Lifetime"

Baby,
I woke up
with wood.
